Boomville, September 9, 2025 — Authorities are actively searching for a man who went missing after reportedly interacting with a suspicious device discovered in Ipsum Lorem Park yesterday afternoon.

According to eyewitness accounts, the man was seen approaching what appeared to be an improvised explosive device (IED) near the east entrance of the park around 3:30 p.m. Several bystanders reportedly attempted to warn him to stay away, but he was observed touching and manipulating the device before suddenly walking away and disappearing from the vicinity.

Concerned witnesses immediately notified park security and called 911. Police responded swiftly, and a specialized bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the scene. After careful examination, the device was confirmed to be hazardous and potentially explosive. Bomb technicians successfully disarmed and removed the device without incident.

“The device posed a serious threat to public safety,” said Police Chief Ty Fox during a press briefing this morning. “Our immediate priority is to locate the individual who interacted with the device, assess his condition, and ensure no further risk to the public.”

The missing man’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification. Police have described him as a Chinese male in his mid-30s, wearing an orange jacket and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

Authorities are currently treating the man’s disappearance as a critical concern, given the potential for injury or worse. Search teams, including K9 units, are canvassing the park and surrounding neighborhoods. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras is being reviewed in hopes of tracing his movements.

Experts warn against approaching or tampering with suspicious objects. “If you come across something unusual, do not touch it and immediately contact law enforcement,” Chief Fox emphasized. “Even the slightest interaction can trigger dangerous consequences.”

City officials have increased patrols in public spaces as a precaution. Central Park remains open to the public, but visitors are urged to remain vigilant and report any unusual activity. No injuries related to the device or the man’s disappearance have been reported so far.

Anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Boomville Police Department at (555) 123-4567 or submit tips anonymously through the department’s website.

A reward of $5000 is offered for any information regarding the man's whereabouts.
